SAMDDRA Welcomes Final Aftermarket Guidelines

SAMDDRA welcomes the Competition Commission's final Guidelines on Repair, Service and Maintenance Aftermarkets as an important step towards a more competitive, accessible and inclusive electronics-repair ecosystem.

The Guidelines are intended to promote consumer choice, fair competition and access to more affordable, quality repair services. They cover products including mobile phones, tablets, gaming consoles and other electronics, and support competition between authorised and independent service providers.

SAMDDRA calls for practical collaboration with original equipment manufacturers so repair businesses can access the parts, technical information and diagnostic resources needed to provide reliable service. Turning the policy direction into workable repair access can strengthen skills, support local businesses and help keep devices in use for longer.
